About us!
Wortley Top Forge Model Engineers are based at Wortley, near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, (see map). We have an active membership of around 40. Members' interests cover everything from miniature steam, diesel and electric locomotion through to clocks, tools, traction engines, stationary industrial machines and trams. Central to our interests and activities is the miniature passenger-carrying railway which operates on Sundays from Easter until early November and most Bank Holidays and which attracts many visitors, young and old, from near and far.
We are always happy to receive visitors, and especially new members.
The Society is fortunate in having a site contained within the historical Wortley Top Forge Industrial Museum which, in its own right, is well worth a visit to those interested in historic buildings, industrial machinery and relics, and boasts a superb working water wheel powered from the waters of the nearby River Don.
